Niambi Cacchioli is the founder of Pholk Beauty. She was raised in Kentucky, where no matter how much money you had, everyone had a garden or vegetable plot. So, she grew up believing that Black folk were Green folk. It wasn’t until her academic work with the Africa Centre and UNESCO that she discovered otherwise.
During her travels, she struggled to find products that suited her combination skin. She would visit local apothecaries, load her shopping cart with all kinds of natural ingredients, and experiment with the simple beauty recipes that her Nana taught her. This was when she began to think of skincare as a Diaspora Folk Beauty Culture where African-derived beauty wisdom is adapted with local ingredients. Infusing these two principles, Pholk Beauty was born.
Niambi infuses Pholk with her love and knowledge of the African Diaspora’s healing and herbalist traditions. Her calling is to welcome women of color into the natural skincare space by thinking about lifestyle and skin needs and crafting a brand narrative that celebrates women of color as innovators of culture.
The unique skincare collection consists of mindfully developed and manufactured skincare cleansers, face oil, moisturizers and face mists. All are thoughtfully curated to address the needs of melanin skin.
